Preparing for plastic surgery is a big step. There may have been mental hurdles you overcame. There may have been physical hurdles you overcame and weight loss goals you achieved. There may also have been a significant financial commitment to your plastic surgery procedure. Dr. Katzen, his staff, and you want nothing to go wrong with your procedure. To minimize the chances of potential complications, you should review your medications, vitamins, and supplements. By themselves, medications, vitamins, and supplements have side effects. These side effects can include bleeding and poor healing. Also, in combination some medications can interfere with anesthesia drugs and other required post-operative medications, like antibiotics. Certain vitamins and supplements can also interfere with healing and actually, work against you.

During your consultation with Dr. Katzen please list and mention all medications, vitamins, and supplements you are taking. Some medications need to be stopped well before surgery to minimize their untoward effects.
