Neck Liposuction for Back of Neck Fat With Long-Term Contouring Results.*

Our patient is a Hispanic female in her 40s who was bothered by excess fat at the back of her neck that created a rounded, heavy appearance in photos and made certain tops and hairstyles feel less flattering.  She weighed 204 lbs at the time of surgery and wanted a targeted solution for back of neck fat removal that could create a smoother transition from her neckline to her upper back.  Dr. Timothy Katzen performed neck liposuction under general anesthesia, focusing on safe, even contouring and a natural result.   Before surgery, the treatment area was carefully marked to define the fullness and the surrounding zones that needed gentle blending.  During the procedure, a tumescent solution was placed to help reduce bleeding and allow the fat to be removed more smoothly, then tiny incisions were made in discreet locations.  A thin cannula was used to loosen and suction the unwanted fat in controlled, layered passes, with constant attention to symmetry so the area would not look overtreated or uneven.  Once the contour was refined, the incisions were closed and a compression wrap was used to support the tissues, manage swelling, and help the skin settle to the new shape.  In the early recovery period, patients can expect swelling, bruising, and temporary firmness, with gradual softening over time as healing progresses.  Light walking is typically encouraged, while heavy lifting and strenuous exercise are limited until cleared at follow up appointments.  These photos were taken 2 years after surgery and show remarkable, stable results with improved neck contouring, a smoother back of neck profile, and a more refined silhouette that looks natural and balanced.
