Our patient sought help when the symptoms from her prior buttock and hip injections became too painful to ignore. She is a 40-year-old White female who had foreign body injections and was told the product was biopolymer but later developed worsening pain, burning, itching, and hard lumps. She also had migrated product extending into both groins, making the situation even more complex. To address the problem, Dr. Timothy Katzen performed silicone injection removal with a posterior butt lift using the open technique under general anesthesia. This open silicone removal method is often necessary when foreign material has spread because it gives direct access to diseased tissue and allows more precise removal from multiple involved areas. During surgery, Dr. Katzen carefully opened the bilateral buttocks and hips, removed the silicone-laden and inflamed tissue, and treated the bilateral inguinal region where the product had migrated. Removing this material is not only about contour; it is also about symptom relief and reducing inflammation. After the foreign material was removed, Dr. Katzen reshaped the area with a posterior butt lift to improve buttock contour and support a smoother transition through the hips. The incisions were closed in multiple layers to protect healing tissues. These photos were taken 10 days after surgery, and even though recovery is still early, her results are already remarkable, and she is happy to feel relief from most of her pain.

Our patient is a 40-year-old White female who came to Dr. Timothy Katzen with worsening pain, burning, itching, and hard lumps after foreign body injections were placed in her buttocks and hips. She had been told the injected product was biopolymer, but over time the material caused increasing symptoms and migrated into both groins, also called the inguinal region. To help relieve pain and remove the damaged tissue, Dr. Katzen performed silicone injection removal with a posterior butt lift using the open technique under general anesthesia. This open approach is important when the product has spread, as it allows direct visualization of the affected tissues rather than relying solely on blind suction. During surgery, Dr. Katzen carefully opened the involved areas of the bilateral buttocks and hips, identified the silicone-laden and inflamed tissue, and removed the foreign material in a controlled, step-by-step manner. He also addressed the migrated product in the bilateral groin, where silicone can create firmness, irritation, and discomfort. After removing the diseased tissue, Dr. Katzen performed the posterior butt lift portion of the surgery by tightening and reshaping the remaining tissue to create a smoother contour. The incisions were closed in layers to support healing. These photos were taken 10 days after surgery, so the wounds are still fresh, yet her results are already remarkable, and she is happy to be relieved from most of her pain.
