In this case, a Hispanic woman in her 60s turned to board-certified Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Timothy Katzen for an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, to address long-standing abdominal laxity. She weighed 145 pounds at the time of surgery and felt that, despite stable weight, her abdomen appeared relaxed, with excess skin and central fullness that did not respond to exercise. Under general anesthesia, Dr. Timothy Katzen made a low horizontal incision placed along the bikini line, then gently lifted the abdominal skin and fat away from the underlying muscles. He performed muscle plication from the breastbone to the pubic area, tightening the rectus muscles like an internal corset to firm the core and narrow the waist. After reinforcing the abdominal wall, he removed redundant lower abdominal skin and a small amount of fat, then advanced the remaining tissue downward to smooth wrinkling and overhang. The umbilicus was preserved and brought out through a new opening to sit naturally on the flatter abdominal wall. The incision was closed in several layers to reduce tension and support better scar healing, and a compression garment was applied to help control swelling. These before-and-after photos, taken 3 months after tummy tuck surgery, show a noticeably flatter abdomen, a more defined waistline, and a rejuvenated torso, illustrating how abdominoplasty with Dr. Timothy Katzen can restore abdominal contour later in life for the right candidate.

This case features a Hispanic woman in her 60s who chose board-certified Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Timothy Katzen for an abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a tummy tuck, to improve abdominal contour and restore a smoother waistline.  She weighed 145 lbs at the time of surgery and, despite maintaining a stable weight, felt her abdomen looked loose and lacked definition.  Under general anesthesia, Dr. Timothy Katzen performed a full tummy tuck by creating a low, gently curved incision designed to sit along the bikini line.  He elevated the abdominal skin and fatty layer to expose the underlying abdominal wall, then tightened the stretched rectus muscles with internal muscle plication sutures to create a firmer core and a flatter foundation.  Excess lower abdominal skin and a thin layer of fat were removed, and the remaining tissue was carefully redraped downward to smooth laxity and improve the overall profile.  Her belly button was preserved on its natural stalk and brought out through a new opening so it sits naturally on the tightened abdomen.  The incision was closed in multiple layers to reduce tension and support cleaner scar healing, and a compression garment was applied to help control swelling and support the new contour during recovery.  These photos, taken 3 months after tummy tuck surgery, already show remarkable results with a flatter abdomen, improved waist definition, and a more youthful torso, with continued refinement expected as swelling resolves and scars mature over time under the care of Dr. Timothy Katzen.
