Breast Reduction and Lift Create Youthful, Balanced, and Natural Contours*

A Hispanic woman in her 50s chose Dr. Katzen to help rejuvenate her breasts after years of feeling that her chest no longer reflected her femininity.  She had noticed loss of volume in the upper part of the breasts, flattening, and sagging with the nipples drifting lower on the chest.  During consultation, Dr. Katzen recommended a combined breast augmentation with breast lift, also called augmentation mastopexy, to restore fullness with breast implants and elevate the breast tissue for a more youthful shape.  Together they selected implant size and discussed a technique that would enhance her curves while maintaining a natural look.  In the operating room, she was placed under general anesthesia. Dr. Katzen began by making carefully planned incisions around the areola and in a vertical line down the lower portion of the breast, which allowed him to both reshape the breast and place the implant.  He created a precise pocket beneath the chest muscle to position the breast implant securely, improving upper pole fullness and projection.  After the implants were placed, he reshaped the natural breast tissue over the implants to form a rounder, more balanced mound.  The nipple and areola were then moved higher on the breast so they pointed forward rather than downward.  Stretched skin was removed and the remaining skin was tightened to support the new contour.  The incisions were closed in multiple layers to reinforce the lifted position and encourage smooth healing.  As swelling resolved, her breasts appeared fuller, lifted, and more proportionate to her frame.  She was very pleased with her breast augmentation and breast lift results and felt that her cosmetic breast surgery with Beverly Hills board certified plastic surgeon Dr. J.
