A brachioplasty can be a life-changing step for patients who have worked hard to lose weight but still struggle with hanging arm skin. Our patient, a 45-year-old White female, presented to Dr. J. Timothy Katzen after significant weight loss following previous RNY surgery, diet, and exercise. At her highest, she weighed over 275 pounds, and by the time she sought surgery, she had reduced her weight to 215 pounds. Despite her success, she remained bothered by excess skin in the upper arms, a common issue after major weight loss. Because skin that has been stretched for a long time often cannot retract enough on its own, surgical removal is usually needed to create a smoother result. Under general anesthesia, Dr. Katzen performed an arm lift, also known as brachioplasty. This surgery removes loose upper-arm skin and reshapes the arms to create a tighter, firmer contour from the armpit to the elbow. For many post-weight-loss patients, an arm lift improves both appearance and comfort, especially when wearing short sleeves or fitted clothing. These photos were taken 4 months after surgery and show our patient’s remarkable results. Her transformation demonstrates Dr. Katzen’s expertise in brachioplasty after weight loss, removal of excess arm skin, and post-bariatric body contouring, helping her achieve upper arms that look smoother, more toned, and better proportioned. 4 months later, her arms look tighter, leaner, and much more youthful in contour.

Loose arm skin after weight loss can be frustrating because no amount of exercise can remove stretched skin once it has lost elasticity. Our patient, a 45-year-old White female, presented to Dr. J. Timothy Katzen after achieving tremendous weight loss through prior RNY surgery, diet, and exercise. At her highest, she weighed over 275 pounds, and by the time she was ready for surgery, she had reduced her weight to 215 pounds. While her weight loss was a major accomplishment, she was still bothered by excess skin hanging from her upper arms. Under general anesthesia, Dr. Katzen performed a brachioplasty, also called an arm lift, to remove the extra skin and reshape the arms. During this procedure, unwanted loose skin and soft tissue are carefully excised to reduce fullness and create a tighter upper arm contour. The goal is to improve the shape of the arms and reduce the heavy, drooping appearance often seen after major weight loss. For many patients, brachioplasty also improves comfort in clothing and boosts confidence when wearing sleeveless tops. These photos were taken 4 months after surgery and show our patient’s remarkable results. Her transformation showcases Dr. Katzen’s expertise in brachioplasty surgery, arm lift after weight loss, and removal of excess upper arm skin after bariatric surgery, helping her arms appear smoother, firmer, and more proportionate to her body. 4 months later, her upper arms look tighter, slimmer, and more balanced.
