This transformation was about more than losing weight; it was about addressing the skin that remained afterward. Our patient is a 61-year-old White female who had previously been morbidly obese and reached a highest weight of 265 lbs. Through dieting, exercise, RNY gastric bypass, and GLP-1 medications, she reached her lowest weight of 165 lbs. After her tremendous weight-loss journey, she came to Dr. Katzen to remove excess skin that no longer fit her body. One important part of her full-body transformation plan was an arm lift, also known as a brachioplasty. She was placed under general anesthesia for surgery. During the arm lift, Dr. Katzen removed loose, hanging upper arm skin and extra tissue, then tightened the remaining skin to create a smoother and more natural arm contour. This procedure is commonly performed after major weight loss because stretched skin often cannot return to its original shape, even with continued exercise. Brachioplasty can help treat sagging arms, loose upper arm skin, and the “bat wing” appearance that many patients experience after obesity, bariatric surgery, or GLP-1-assisted weight loss. Photos were taken 3 months after surgery, and our patient achieved remarkable results. This case shows how post-weight-loss arm lift surgery can help refine the arms and make the overall transformation feel more complete. The result helped her arms look smoother and more proportional to her transformed body.

After years of working toward a healthier body, our patient was ready for the next step in her transformation. Our patient is a 61-year-old White female who had previously been morbidly obese and reached a highest weight of 265 lbs. Through dieting, exercise, RNY gastric bypass, and GLP-1 medications, she eventually reached her lowest weight of 165 lbs. Even after this tremendous weight-loss journey, the skin on her upper arms did not tighten on its own. The hanging arm skin made her feel that her transformation was not fully complete, so she came to Dr. Katzen for help. As part of her customized full-body transformation plan, Dr. Katzen performed an arm lift, also known as a brachioplasty, while she was under general anesthesia. During the procedure, Dr. Katzen removed the loose, hanging skin and extra tissue from the upper arms, then carefully tightened and reshaped the remaining skin to create a smoother arm contour. Arm lift surgery after weight loss is designed for patients who have stretched skin that cannot be improved with exercise alone. This procedure can help reduce arm sagging, improve upper arm shape, and make the arms look more proportional to the rest of the body. Photos were taken 3 months after surgery, and our patient achieved remarkable results. This case shows how post-weight-loss brachioplasty can help patients feel more comfortable showing their arms after major weight loss, resulting in a more complete result.
