After major weight loss, loose upper arm skin can remain even when a patient is healthy, active, and proud of their progress. Our patient is a 36-year-old White female who presented to Dr. Katzen because she was bothered by excess skin on her arms following weight loss. She underwent an arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, under general anesthesia. During this upper arm lift surgery, Dr. Katzen carefully removed hanging skin and extra tissue from the upper arms to create a smoother, tighter upper arm contour. The goal of brachioplasty surgery is to reduce loose skin that cannot be improved with exercise alone and to help the arms look more proportionate to the rest of the body. Dr. Katzen placed the incision along the inner arm area so the excess skin could be removed in a controlled way while reshaping the arm from the underarm toward the elbow. At 3 months after surgery, her before and after photos show a noticeable transformation in the size and shape of her arms. Our patient achieved remarkable results, with a cleaner arm contour and less loose skin in the upper arm. For patients who have worked hard to lose weight, an arm lift after weight loss can be a powerful step in completing their body contouring journey safely and comfortably. This procedure can also improve how clothing fits and how the arms appear in photos, especially when loose skin has made the upper body feel out of balance after weight loss.

Female Arm Lift Transformation

Excess skin on the arms after weight loss can be difficult to hide and even harder to improve without surgery. Our patient is a 36-year-old White female who sought Dr. Katzen’s help because she had loose skin on her upper arm after losing weight. She underwent an arm lift, or brachioplasty, under general anesthesia to remove the extra skin and reshape the arms. During this procedure, Dr. Katzen carefully removed the hanging skin and excess tissue from the upper arms, then contoured the area to create a smoother, more natural arm shape. Brachioplasty surgery is commonly performed for post-weight-loss patients because the skin can lose elasticity and may not tighten with exercise. This upper arm lift helped address the laxity that made her arms look heavier and less defined, even after her weight loss. At 3 months after surgery, her before and after photos show remarkable results, with a cleaner contour and a more balanced upper arm appearance. The goal was not to change who she is, but to remove the skin that no longer matched her body after weight loss. Arm lift surgery can make a meaningful difference for patients who feel self-conscious about loose skin when wearing short sleeves, tank tops, or fitted clothing. This case is a strong example of how upper-arm skin removal can refine the arms and support the final stages of a weight-loss transformation. Her result will continue to settle as the incisions heal and the arm tissue softens.
