57 year old female weighed 321 pounds. She underwent RNY gastric bypass and lost 197 pounds. Even though she lost all this weight, she did not feel complete. She did not like the appearance of her thighs. She developed rashes between her thighs. Her thighs rubbed together. Clothes did not fit correctly. Exercise was difficult. She underwent a vertical medial thigh lift or thighplasty. During the thigh lift, thigh liposuction was performed and thigh fat was removed. About 2 liters of fat was removed. Then, excess thigh skin and fat was directly excised. The combined weight of the thigh skin and fat was about 6 pounds. The final incision was placed in the inseam of the thigh. By placing the incision in the inseam, when the leg is viewed from the front, the scar is hidden. The vertical medial thigh lift procedure takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete. The thigh lift is performed under general anesthesia. Recovery is about 2 to 3 weeks. A compression garment is worn for about 6 to 8 weeks depending on the swelling. This patient is very happy with her new thighs about her vertical thigh lift. Clothes fit better and she can exercise. Also, she feels much better about herself. (Individual results vary.)
