This is a 5’3” 250 pound White 48-year-old female. Their maximum weight was 410 pounds. This patient lost 160 pounds with duodenal switch gastric bypass, diet, and exercise. Despite her best efforts, this patient was still troubled by the extra back skin and fat on her torso. She did extensive research on the internet and discovered Dr. J. Timothy Katzen in Beverly Hills, California, to be an expert in the filed of reconstructive plastic surgery after massive weight loss. She decided to seek out the help of Dr. J. Timothy Katzen. Together, they agreed that merely performing liposuction on the back wouldn't be enough and might even worsen the skin folds. Thus, Dr. Katzen also performed a horizontal torsoplasty, during which 4 pounds of unnecessary skin and fat were removed. Drains were installed on each side to assist with the healing process, and were removed two weeks later. The patient was able to get back to her desk job within two weeks of the operation. She wore a compression garment for six weeks and attended to her dressings daily for the first two weeks. From the fourth week on, she applied silicone strips and scar cream twice daily. The results of the horizontal torsoplasty thrilled her, allowing her to wear clothes she once couldn't and restoring her self-esteem by smoothing out her back. She feels a profound satisfaction with the vertical lift, marveling at the dramatic improvement in her figure, particularly her back.
